At 32, I became Vice President. By 37, I was CEO of Arcules, a Canon-owned company, reporting directly to Mr. Mitarai and a board of highly accomplished directors. For 7 years, I navigated the complexities of Japanese multinational culture while scaling a Silicon Valley startup—balancing entrepreneurial agility with corporate sophistication, ultimately leading to a successful exit.
But the real transformation came through two life-changing moments: a near-death experience that taught me to lead without fear, and raising my autistic son who showed me that true strength comes from emotional intelligence, not just strategic thinking.
These experiences, combined with leading across three continents and building companies from scratch, shaped my approach: Leaders must adapt or die—but they shouldn’t have to do it alone.
