The Leaders ADAPT Framework
The Leaders ADAPT framework is a five step leadership model created by Andreas Pettersson of Leaders ADAPT: Awareness, Direction, Action, Purpose, Transformation. It is built to fix a leader's operating architecture rather than add tactics on top of it, and it is the spine of every Leaders ADAPT program.
Why a framework at all
Most leadership advice is a list of behaviours. Read the list, agree with it, change nothing. The reason is that the behaviours are downstream of an architecture, and the architecture is what actually decides what a leader does on a Tuesday.
That is not a motivation problem. That is a sequencing problem, and the five steps below are the sequence.
A, Awareness
See the pattern you are actually running, not the one you believe you run. This step is measured rather than felt, because the gap between the two is the whole problem. A founder who says the team cannot handle client calls, then counts nineteen calls taken that week and finds only two that needed him, has just done Awareness.
D, Direction
Decide where the company is going, in terms specific enough to say no with. A direction that cannot produce a refusal is not a direction. It is a mood.
A, Action
Move on the few things that carry the weight, and stop the rest. When in doubt, subtract. Perfect execution of the wrong thing is still the wrong thing.
P, Purpose
Anchor the work to a reason that survives a bad quarter. Purpose is not a wall poster here. It is the thing that decides what you do when the numbers go against you for two quarters running.
T, Transformation
Change the architecture, so the result holds without you in the room. This is the step that separates a good month from a different company. If the improvement disappears the week you go on holiday, the first four steps happened and this one did not.
Where the framework came from
Andreas Pettersson built Arcules from zero to more than 150 employees, sold it to Canon, and became Canon's youngest standalone CEO. Then Arcules merged with another Canon company and the thing he built became part of something he no longer controlled. The framework came out of that, and out of the coaching work that followed it.
Where it is used
The Leaders ADAPT framework runs through the CEO Mastermind, 1:1 CEO coaching, and the Executive AI Program. The free assessments are the Awareness step, on their own and at no cost.
Which of the five are you actually doing right now, and which one have you been calling done for a year?
