Should I quit my job, or change how I work here?
Most people who ask whether to quit their job are asking four questions at once. Is the work still right for me? Is it the person I report to? Is the deal fair: the pay, the hours, the terms? And how much of this is about how I show up, the part that would come with me to the next job?
This quiz separates the four. You score twelve statements about your job as it is today, and you get a fit score from 0 to 100, the part of the job that is holding up best, and the part that is driving the question. It does not tell you to quit or to stay. It names what you would actually be leaving, and it hands you the rules people use to decide well.
It takes about four minutes and shows your result without an email. If you manage people, or you are leaving to start or run something, say so on the next screen and your result puts that view first.
Should I Quit My Job Quiz: the work, the boss, the deal or the mirror
Should I quit, and what exactly would I be leaving?
What you get
- Your score out of 100
- Which of the 4 results you land on
- Scores across The Mirror, The Work, The Deal and The Boss
- Your strongest dimension and your gap, and where to start
This quiz sorts what is driving the question. It does not tell you to leave or to stay, and it does not know your contract, your finances or your health. The runway figures in the worksheet are arithmetic, not financial advice; check them with someone qualified. If you are being harassed or discriminated against, this quiz does not apply; talk to HR, an employment lawyer or, in the UK, ACAS.

Your next move
If you do not manage people
Your full result names what is driving the question and hands you the rules: stay employed while you search, set a six month check, and pick the choice you would regret less. It ends on three columns: leave, stay and act, or stay and wait.
If you manage people
Some of your own reports are asking this question about their jobs. Ask each of them what would make them stay. The one on one meeting builder gives you the agenda.
If you are leaving to start or run something
If you are leaving to start or run something, your full result has the runway rule: the months of costs you have covered before you resign, worked out with your own numbers. The CEO Mastermind is where founders test the plan.

The four results
Every completed run lands on one of these pages, with your own scores drawn from the link the tool gives you. Each one is readable without taking the tool.
- Wrong LensSome of the friction may be coming with you. Test that first.
- Wrong WorkThe work no longer fits. A new boss would not fix it.
- Wrong DealThe exchange feels unfair. Ask plainly before you decide.
- Wrong BossThe work fits. The relationship with your manager does not.
Signs you should quit your job, and signs the job is not the problem
Search for the signs you should quit your job and you get lists: you dread Sunday evenings, you have stopped learning, you are underpaid, your boss drains you. Some of those are about the job. Some of them would come with you. The four parts this quiz scores sort them.
- The Work. You have stopped learning, the work no longer fits what you are good at, and nothing planned for next year changes that. A new job fixes this.
- The Boss. The work is fine and the relationship is not. A new manager fixes this, and sometimes a new manager arrives without you moving.
- The Deal. Pay, hours, location or terms. Often fixable with one direct conversation, which is the conversation people put off.
- The Mirror. The same friction showed up in your last job, or you carry extra work nobody asked you to carry. A new job does not fix this. It resets the clock.
How this differs
Most should I quit my job quizzes add up how unhappy you are and return a verdict, usually the same one: go. This quiz returns no verdict. It splits the question into four parts that need different answers, including the one most quizzes leave out: how much of the friction would follow you to the next job.
The result comes first with no email, and every reading gives the rules for deciding rather than the decision. It is not a version of any psychological or career instrument. It is built by a leadership coaching firm, which is why every result also has a view for the reader who manages people and one for the reader leaving to run something.
What happens to your responses
Your score, your result and your dimension scores are shown on screen without an email address. An anonymous copy of the score and the dimension scores, with no name, email or free text, joins the aggregate statistics for this tool, which are published only when a cut has at least 30 completions. Email is optional. Only if you ask for the result by email is it written to your contact record, and only then. The full rules are on the methodology page.
If this is a legal matter
Harassment and discrimination at work are legal questions, and a quiz cannot answer them. In the US, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission explains what the law covers and how to file a charge at eeoc.gov. In the UK, ACAS gives free, impartial advice at acas.org.uk. An employment lawyer can tell you what applies to you. Nothing on this page is legal advice.
Common questions
Should I quit my job or stay?
This quiz does not decide that for you, and a quiz that does is guessing. It tells you which part of the job is driving the question: the work, the boss, the deal, or the mirror, which is the part that would follow you. Each result then gives the rules for deciding and a three column test: leave, stay and act, or stay and wait.
What are the signs you should quit your job?
Signs the job is the problem: you have stopped learning and next year looks the same, two clear requests to your manager changed nothing, or a direct ask about pay or hours got a no with no path. Signs it may not be the job: the same friction showed up in your last role, or you carry extra work nobody asked you to carry.
Should I quit my job without another one lined up?
The usual rule is to stay employed while you search, because it is easier to find a job when you have one. If you have to leave first, work out how many months of costs your savings cover before you resign, and set a date to check. If you are being harassed or discriminated against, that is a legal question: talk to HR, an employment lawyer or, in the UK, ACAS.
How do I deal with a bad boss without quitting?
Separate untrained from unwilling. Make one clear request in writing about the thing that would help most, such as a standing one on one or a clear priority, and see what happens twice. If your reading is Wrong Boss, the boss pattern test names which part of the relationship is not working.
Will my employer see my answers?
No. Nothing you enter is sent to anyone. An anonymous copy of the scores, with no name, email or free text, joins the aggregate statistics, and no would quit figure is ever published from it.
