Quiet Place
Reading. Safety is weakest. People say it afterwards, in private.
This test scores conditions you experience at work. It does not diagnose a workplace, a person or you, and it is not HR, legal or medical advice. Unlawful harassment is a legal standard that depends on a protected characteristic and conduct severe or pervasive enough to be abusive; if you think that applies, contact the EEOC in the US, ACAS in the UK, or an employment lawyer. If you are exhausted to the point of physical symptoms, see a doctor. In the US, call or text 988 in a crisis.
Your weakest condition is Safety. Problems with how work is done are not raised, mistakes are hidden rather than admitted, and what people really think is said afterwards, in private, rather than in the meeting. This test calls that reading Quiet Place. It names what is missing, not who is to blame.
Read your score first. Over 60, the place is broadly healthy and safety is its weak spot. Between 40 and 60, the silence is costing the place its early warnings. Under 40, conditions are thin everywhere and safety is the thinnest.
Now the question you came with: is it the place, the boss or the week? Silence that follows one manager is the boss, and the boss pattern test will show which behaviour drives it. Silence that holds across teams and survives a change of manager is the place. Silence that started with a layoff round or a reorganisation can be the week, and it lifts when people see an honest remark go unpunished.
A quiet place is rarely built on purpose. It is built one reaction at a time: a sigh at bad news, a question treated as a challenge, a mistake remembered at review time. Most managers who build one were never shown another way.
If the silence comes from threats, humiliation or conduct aimed at who you are, this is not a culture question. Use the resources at the foot of this page.
What to do this week. Raise one small, true thing in a meeting rather than after it: a risk, a date that will slip, a question nobody has asked. Choose something with low stakes. What happens next is your data. If it is heard, the silence is habit and can be broken one remark at a time. If it is punished, you have learned something real about the place.
What to do with this result
If you do not manage people
Your next meeting. Say one small, true thing in the room rather than after it. If you want to test it with your manager first, try: I have a concern about this plan that I would rather raise now than later. Is now a good time?
The three columns. Leave, if your score is under 40, the silence holds across teams, and the one true thing you said was punished. Stay and act, if it was heard. Stay and wait, if a new manager or a reorganisation is already scheduled.
If you are looking. In every interview, ask to meet the person you would report to, and find someone who left the team in the last year and ask them why.
If you manage people
If you manage people, ask whether your team would score you here. Silence is the condition managers see least, because from the front of the room a quiet meeting looks like agreement. The psychological safety scale scores what your team can say to you, on what you have actually seen. The fastest move is a reaction, not a policy: the next time someone brings you bad news, thank them before you ask anything else.
The 360 lite asks three to five of your people directly. The 5 Minute Leader is the daily habit set, five minutes a day.

If you need support now
This page is not a crisis service and nobody reads your answers. If you are thinking about harming yourself or you are in danger, reach a person today. In the US, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or text HOME to 741741 to reach Crisis Text Line.
In the UK and Ireland, call Samaritans on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258. Anywhere else, call your local emergency number. If work is affecting your sleep or your health, see a doctor. A coach is not the right first call for that, and neither is a quiz.
If this is a legal matter
Harassment and discrimination at work are legal questions, and a quiz cannot answer them. In the US, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission explains what the law covers and how to file a charge at eeoc.gov. In the UK, ACAS gives free, impartial advice at acas.org.uk. An employment lawyer can tell you what applies to you. Nothing on this page is legal advice.
The other results
- Uneven PlaceFairness is weakest. Rules bend for some people, not others.
- Unheard PlaceConsequence is weakest. Problems are raised and nothing changes.
- Overrun PlaceLoad is weakest. The hours take more than recovery gives back.
