Steady
Reading. Your energy is holding. Watch the bars, not the score.
You are in reasonable shape. Your energy is holding, weekends restore you, you like the work of managing people, and the system around you mostly tells you what it wants and notices what you do. Once the benchmark publishes you will see how many leaders land here.
Two things are worth doing with a Steady result. The first is to look at your lowest of the three bars anyway. Steady is a score, not a promise, and leaders who burn out rarely go from Steady to Running Empty in a month. They go bar by bar. If your Environment bar is noticeably below the other two, you are steady in a place that is not looking after you, and the score will follow the environment down before you feel it.
The second is to look at your team. The leaders who answer this test honestly and land on Steady are often the ones whose people are not. The burnout of a team usually reaches the leader last, because the leader is the person everyone is protecting from it.
I know this pattern from the inside, from years of running a company that was growing fast. The leader is usually the last person to feel the team's burnout, because everyone is protecting the leader from it. Every update arrives a little cleaner than the week behind it. Nobody lies. They round up, because they believe in you and do not want to be the one who adds to your load.
So being steady yourself tells you very little about your team. It can mean the opposite: the calm you feel is the calm they are making for you. What I learned to watch was not what people said in the update. It was what they stopped saying, the questions that used to come and did not, the person who used to push back and went quiet. That is where the reading usually is.
What to do with it: nothing dramatic. Note the date and your three bars. Take it again in three months. If any bar has dropped by more than fifteen points, that is the signal, whatever the total says.
If you lead people who might not be Steady, the psychological safety scale is the other half of this picture.
Next step: check whether your team can tell you the truth with the psychological safety scale.
Next step
This test is not a diagnosis and cannot replace one. It is a coaching tool, written for people who lead others, and it does not measure any medical condition.
If the last few weeks have been more than tiredness, if sleep has gone, or if you have stopped caring about things you used to care about, please speak with a doctor or with someone you trust. A coach is not the right first call for that. Your national health service or a helpline in your country comes before any page like this one.
When I think a client needs more than coaching, I say it plainly: see a doctor first, and we will pick this up when you are ready. Coaching starts where there is frustration and a wish to move, and it is not built for someone who is worn down in a way that rest does not fix. Sending you to the right person first is the most useful thing I can do.
The other results
- DepletedYour lowest reading is you. It is the most recoverable one.
- Wrong SeatYour lowest reading is the seat. A preference, not a failure.
- EnvironmentYour lowest reading is the environment. It is not an excuse.
