Frontrunner
Level 4. Scores 76 to 100. AI has changed how you lead. You may be ahead, and alone.
AI has changed how you lead, and you could describe the change in detail: what you hand to it, what you never will, how your team uses it, what happens when it goes wrong, and who answers for it. Few leaders are here and fewer can show it.
The risk at this level is not falling behind. It is being alone. Frontrunners are usually ahead of the people they report to, and item eleven cuts both ways: a leader who is far ahead of their board or their CEO on this can find that saying so lands badly, and starts to under report. If you are quietly running a team that uses these tools in ways the organisation above you does not understand, that is a governance problem the organisation has and you are absorbing.
The second risk is speed. Your team may be changing how it works faster than the people around it can follow, and the friction shows up as other teams' complaints rather than yours. Check your Team bar against your Practice bar. If Practice is much higher, you are further ahead than your team is, and your estimate of their enthusiasm is probably reading your own.
Being ahead is not a reason to pull harder. It is a reason to look back. What a Frontrunner owes the leaders around them is time and translation. Show your work to a small group first, let them find their own use for it, and watch who starts teaching it to others without being asked. Those are the people who move a company.
The Nordic instinct helps here. Jantelagen, as I grew up with it, says you should not be more than someone else just because, and that includes being early. The point is to bring the room with you, not to be the one who got there first. Respect timing too. A team already absorbing a major change gets a no on timing from me, said out loud. The wrong month is a real reason to wait.
One thing to do this month. Write one page, no more, on how your team uses AI and what you have decided not to do, and give it to whoever you report to. Not as a proposal. As a description. Most Frontrunners have never told the organisation what they are already doing, and the organisation cannot back what it does not know about.
Then consider whether the benchmark this index feeds is something you want to add to: it reports by role level and region, and the Nordic cut only exists if leaders like you complete it.
Next step: this instrument feeds the Leadership Readiness Index; the rules are on the methodology page.
