Best Leadership Team Coaching Firms: 10 Firms Compared by Company Size, With the Selection Method

Best leadership team coaching firms, sorted by company size instead of hype: 10 firms, what each engagement looks like, published prices, and how to choose.

By Andreas Pettersson, Founder, Leaders ADAPT

You've told the leadership team what matters this quarter, twice, and the calendars still say something else. So you searched for the best leadership team coaching firms and got directories and homepages that say "transform."

Here's a different list. Hiring and team performance is the most common thing owner CEOs bring to us, raised by 55 percent of the 84 owner CEOs in our coaching data (Leaders ADAPT, 2026). A leadership team coaching firm is a company that assigns one or more coaches to work with a CEO and the senior team as a unit, over months, on how the team decides, prioritizes and holds itself accountable.

Before the table, run the Alignment Check, because what fails on it tells you which rows to read.

Quick answer: Leadership team coaching firms sort most usefully by company size. Korn Ferry, Heidrick & Struggles, RHR International and the Center for Creative Leadership serve enterprise executive teams, while Blanchard, Team Coaching International and The Table Group serve the upper mid market. Scaling Up and EOS Worldwide coaches serve growth companies of roughly 10 to 250 employees, and Leaders ADAPT serves owner led companies of $1M to $50M.

How this list was built

Four criteria, stated so you can disagree with them.

  1. The firm coaches teams, not only individuals. Firms that coach executives one at a time at scale are not listed.
  2. Every description comes from the firm's own public pages, read on October 3, 2026. No review sites, no ranking by claimed quality, no client counts the firm doesn't publish.
  3. Prices appear only when the firm publishes them. Most don't, and the table says so.
  4. The order is fit by company size, from the firm's own material. Not best to worst.

Cabinet Coaching, a boutique that ranks for this query, isn't listed because its site couldn't be read the day I built the table. A list of the best leadership team coaching firms that includes a firm its author never checked is a directory.

How do leadership team coaching firms differ?

Three families hide inside that table, and the family matters more than the name.

Systemic team coaching firms treat the team as one client and work on how it operates inside the wider company. The vocabulary comes from Peter Hawkins, whose Renewal Associates in the UK shaped the field. CCL, RHR, Korn Ferry, Blanchard and Team Coaching International sit here, and assessment comes first.

Operating system firms install a fixed way of running the company, then coach the team to run it. EOS and Scaling Up have the largest coach networks. You get a cadence, a planning page and little customization. That's the point.

Boutiques are a few senior people, usually ex operators, with fewer teams at a time. The Table Group and Leaders ADAPT are boutiques of different sizes. You're buying the person in the room.

Platforms such as BetterUp are missing on purpose: individual coaching at scale is a different product, and six better executives plus the same broken team is the wrong purchase.

The ten firms, entry by entry

Korn Ferry. Its "Build High-Performing Executive Teams" offer combines consulting with real time team coaching across six challenge areas, per Korn Ferry.

Heidrick & Struggles. Heidrick Consulting lists Team Acceleration among ten focus areas, next to board effectiveness and CEO succession, per Heidrick & Struggles.

RHR International. RHR pairs Team Effectiveness with CEO and Board Solutions for challenges "that impact the entire enterprise," per RHR International.

Center for Creative Leadership. CCL assigns a coach to the whole team and its members, starts from assessment data and works in phases because "sustainable change takes time," per CCL.

Blanchard. Team coaching sits beside one on one, cohort and post training coaching, with ICF certified coaches who have executive experience, per Blanchard.

Team Coaching International. TCI's Team Diagnostic scores Productivity and Positivity across 14 factors; the firm coaches executive teams and certifies team coaches, per Team Coaching International.

The Table Group. Patrick Lencioni's firm works through principal consultants using Five Dysfunctions, Working Genius and the organizational health model, per The Table Group.

Scaling Up. More than 290 certified coaches run the 4 Decisions and the One-Page Strategic Plan, and the firm says 102,000+ organizations have used the method, per Scaling Up.

EOS Worldwide. EOS says it's designed for privately held companies of roughly 10 to 250 employees, with a full process of about two years and about 10 session days, per EOS Worldwide. I ran EOS for years and know what it leaves out.

Leaders ADAPT. My firm. I was a tech CEO for 10 years and one of Canon's youngest CEOs after the company I founded was acquired. I work with owner led companies of $1M to $50M as the CEO's advisor and the team's coach at once, on the quarter's real decisions. The 12 month goal I state to every team: a well established leadership culture that is autonomous and proactive. Not perfection, a stable base.

What do leadership team coaching engagements cost?

Nine of the ten firms publish no price, and I won't invent one. What exists:

  • The individual layer, which most team engagements include, runs $500 to $3,000 and up per hour at the C-suite level, per the executive coaching cost index we maintain from published pricing (2026).
  • EOS Implementers set their own fees. EOS Worldwide says cost "varies by Implementer" and clients stay about two years. The implementer tiers we've collected are on the EOS implementer cost page.
  • For an outside facilitator running a quarterly planning session, I tell clients to plan roughly $7,000 to $10,000 per quarter plus venue. My figure, not market data.

Enterprise firms price by proposal, scaled to team size, assessment volume and partner time. A $20M company asking a Fortune 500 practice for a quote is a small account.

Should you hire a firm or an independent team coach?

The brand problem is blunt. Without a famous name on the door, an independent spends months earning the conversation a big firm gets on day one, and earns it by proving something first. I know, because that's my side of the table.

That's the real difference, and it has nothing to do with who's better in the room. A firm buys you trust on day one, a bench if your coach leaves and a method that survives any one person. An independent buys you a senior person who stays, less overhead in the price and judgment not bound to a methodology.

The failure modes are symmetrical. Firms fail when the partner sells and a junior delivers. Independents fail when the coach has never run anything, or coaches each executive beautifully while your Tuesday meeting and your numbers stay unconnected.

Where an independent trained tells you what they'll do to you. Hudson Institute of Coaching has certified coaches for over 30 years; Team Coaching International certifies them on its diagnostic. Ask where they learned the craft, and whether they've sat in a CEO seat since.

How do you choose a leadership team coaching firm for a $10M to $500M company?

Here's the thing nobody on the sales side wants to hear. When a firm shows me it took a company from $15M to $45M, those are results. They're not triggering my emotion.

What I hate is wishing someone in the room could solve the problem for me, and watching what I delegate come back undone. The firm that names that in the first five minutes gets the next ten.

So choose in this order.

  1. Run the Alignment Check first. One or two items failing: you may need a strategic planning facilitator and a better meeting, not a firm. Four failing: the team needs working on as a unit.
  2. Match the family to the failure. Priorities and cadence: an operating system firm. Trust, candor and decision rights: a systemic team coaching firm. The CEO is part of the problem and knows it: a boutique with an operator in the room.
  3. Interview the person, not the firm. Who is in the room every session, what did they run before coaching, and what happens in month four when the COO stops showing up.
  4. Insist on a decision artifact. A one page plan, a scorecard, a decision log. Alignment with no document the team owns is an executive retreat with a longer invoice.
  5. Buy a quarter before you buy a year. Judge the first 90 days by what the team decides and ships, not by how the sessions felt.

My own first hand check comes from a two day leadership offsite I delivered with two co-facilitators for a multi-facility service organization. One asked what my role actually was. I told them: the glue that binds everything together, stepping back so they could run their sections and get credit for their strengths.

A stakeholder had pushed for weeks to put AI on the agenda. A co-facilitator said the client wasn't ready, and I cut my own strongest commercial line out of the engagement in one sentence. A firm that drops its best selling topic when your room isn't ready is the firm you want.

Best leadership team coaching firms FAQ

Which firms do leadership team coaching?

The best leadership team coaching firms for a given company depend on its size. Korn Ferry, Heidrick & Struggles, RHR International, the Center for Creative Leadership, Blanchard, Team Coaching International and The Table Group publish team offerings for mid market and enterprise teams. Scaling Up and EOS Worldwide serve growth companies through coach and implementer networks, and boutiques such as Leaders ADAPT serve owner led companies. Each description comes from the firm's own pages, read in October 2026.

What is the difference between leadership team coaching and executive team coaching firms?

In practice the terms overlap. Executive team coaching firms usually describe work with the C-suite of a large company; leadership team coaching companies use the broader phrase to include senior teams at mid sized and private companies. Both coach the team as a unit over several months. The useful distinctions are the method (systemic, operating system or boutique) and the company size the firm describes.

How much does leadership team coaching cost?

Most firms do not publish prices. The individual coaching layer, which many team engagements include, runs $500 to $3,000 and up per hour at the C-suite level, per the Leaders ADAPT executive coaching cost index (2026). EOS Worldwide states that implementer fees vary by implementer and that engagements last about two years. Enterprise firms price by proposal, scaled to team size, assessment volume and the seniority of the consultants assigned.

Should a company hire a team coaching firm or an independent coach?

A firm provides a recognized name, a bench if a coach leaves and a tested method. An independent provides one senior person for the whole engagement, lower overhead and more flexibility. Companies above roughly $500M in revenue, or with boards that expect a known brand, usually hire firms. Companies of $5M to $100M often get more senior attention from an independent or a boutique, provided the coach has operating experience and a clear method.

How do you choose a leadership team coaching firm?

Diagnose first, then match. Identify which team behaviors fail (priorities, dates, decision rights, handoffs, early warning), then choose the type of firm built for that failure: an operating system firm for cadence, a systemic team coaching firm for trust and decision rights, a boutique when the CEO needs coaching alongside the team. Interview the person who will be in the room, require a decision artifact, and scope 90 days before committing to a year.

How long does leadership team coaching take?

Engagements usually run six to twelve months, with the team meeting its coach monthly or quarterly and the CEO more often. Operating system firms run longer: EOS Worldwide describes a full implementation as about two years and about ten full session days. Firms that begin with team assessment typically spend four to eight weeks on diagnosis first.

The brand is their result, the Monday is yours

A firm's case study is their result. Your team's next Monday is the only result you're buying: the priority you set is the one they work on, and the surprise reaches you on Tuesday instead of at the board meeting.

The most useful thing here is the order: check the team, name the failure, then shop. The best leadership team coaching firms for a $2B company are the wrong ones for a $12M company. If you're between, be honest about whether your team needs a system or needs you to change, because the second case is the one I see most in the leadership team coaching work we do.

When the team's problem turns out to be the CEO's calendar

Most owner led companies that call about the team start in 1:1 CEO advisory, because the Alignment Check fails at the top before it fails in the room. The format is simple. A free first conversation where we score the five items together and decide whether this is a team engagement, a planning problem or a you problem.

Then a first 90 days with three named parts: a weekly advisory session on the decisions in front of you, a quarterly leadership team session I run with you in the room as a participant rather than the boss, and a scorecard with one number per executive that the team reviews without you present. A fourth element arrives once the scorecard has three months of data, and which one depends on where the surprises come from.

Tomorrow morning, before you email any of the best leadership team coaching firms on this list, write down the last three times your own leadership team surprised you and who knew first, and bring that list to the first conversation. Start with 1:1 CEO coaching and we'll decide together whether the team needs a firm at all.
